Giving blood is one of the simplest acts of kindness we can do for someone we never meet. It’s like throwing a penny in a wishing well, wishing that someone somewhere would feel better, and having a lock-tight guarantee that it will come true.

We talk about kindness but this young man is doing it. While teenagers sat on the bank laughing at the struggling man in the current trying to make it to a dock, another young man took action. Included below are two dramatic videos, first of the rescue, and then of the meeting of the two men later in the hospital. What no one knew, not even the teens who laughed on the bank as the man fought to survive, was that the drowning man was developmentally disabled.
